Biography

Ingrid Wong, born in Hong Kong , she is a sculptor and intermedia artist currently based in Prague. She is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Taipei National University of Arts (2018) and a Master of Fine Arts in Vysoká škola uměleckoprůmyslová v Praze(2020), majoring in sculpture.

Influenced by her studies and several art spaces work experiences in Taiwan and Hong Kong, she started to elaborate her artwork in the direction of silent introspection: those low-key works always hiding in the corner of the gallery and waiting for the spectator to watch them, and create a dialogue with them. She intentionally makes a spectacle and odd view from the daily scenes, questioning the gap between ordinary life and the contemporary art world.

During the last year of her Bachelor's degree, she got a chance to be an exchange student at AVU on behalf of her university and traveled from Taiwan to the Czech Republic for the first time. The whole experience changed her artwork in a new direction. Prague city inspired her to go forward with a bolder creation attempt, which led her back to Prague again after she finished studying in Taiwan.

Her latest artworks are directed by her working experiences in different art spaces, exploring the structure and mechanism of art labor and confronting the conflicted relationship between spectators and contemporary art.
